Message of the Week:
Effectual Prayer with the Help of the Holy Spirit
Godman Akinlabi
God is sovereign over all. However, He will not intervene uninvited into the affairs of men. It is our responsibility to ask for God's intervention through prayer, irrespective of Him already having the best in store for us. It is when we seek God that He can reach out to transform our situations. Power is released when we pray.

Prayer is a spiritual activity which God expects from us. We must understand and appreciate the necessity for prayer and supplication, for divine intervention, and not take the situations of our lives for granted; merely wishing something good would happen along the way. Things do not just happen; believers make things happen. God does not just respond to afflictions but He responds to effective communication through prayer and supplication.

To communicate effectively in prayer, we need to engage the help of the Holy Spirit. Prayer is not about eloquence or flowery speech but it is about how well we can engage the help of the Holy Spirit in the place of prayer. One major reason people don't get results from prayer is because they lack knowledge of how to communicate with God, but with the Holy Spirit Who knows all things, prayer becomes effective and efficient.

When we engage the Holy Spirit in prayer, He helps clarify our motives and our real needs within the situation we are praying about. The Holy Spirit knows what the mind of God is for every situation and He can guide us to pray aright concerning the matter in question. Also, with the Holy Spirit's baptism we can pray in tongues and engage Him on issues we don't have solutions for. When we pray in tongues, we engage the help of the Holy Spirit in prayers beyond what our minds can understand.  By praying in tongues, we suspend our understanding and fix our minds on the objective of our prayer and this affords the Holy Spirit the opportunity to pray according to the will of God since He knows the mind of God.

Praying in tongues helps us engage the strategy of the Holy Spirit in spiritual warfare and leaves the devil utterly confused since he doesn't even understand what we are saying. When we engage the Holy Spirit, our prayer lives will be purposeful and smooth.

Let's ask for the Holy Spirit to fill us and lead us in prayer at all times.
